Francesco Piemontesi

About the Show

A former student of Alfred Brendel, Francesco Piemontesi is renowned for his refined musicianship, allied to a flawless technique.

Bach’s sparkling Italian Concerto sits at the heart of the first half of the evening, complemented by a selection of Busoni’s famous Bach arrangements – and a less familiar transcription by great German pianist Wilhelm Kempff of the beautiful Siciliano from Bach’s Flute Sonata BWV.1031. In the second half of the programme, the impressionistic sonorities of Debussy’s Images contrast with the dynamism and turbulence of Rachmaninov’s expressive second Sonata.
