About This Show

Fusing opera with drag, cabaret and political satire, acclaimed composer Conor Mitchell and the Belfast Ensemble are back with their most exciting work to date! Featuring historical and recent comments by DUP members on gay rights, trans lives, marriage equality, ‘poofs’ and ‘perverts’, Abomination, A DUP Opera sets the infamous Iris Robinson radio broadcast to live orchestral music, saving Ulster from Sodomy one song at a time! At a time when freedom of speech is under threat globally yet frequently invoked to legitimise hate speech, Abomination explores the power of words and challenges us to create a new narrative beyond the bluster and bruising of politicians and media.

London Premiere. Run times may vary by up to 20 minutes as they can be affected by last-minute programme changes, intervals and encores.
