Play Dead London: The Case of the Clown in the Woods

Play Dead London, the UK’s leading immersive murder mystery production company, has launched the world’s first hybrid immersive theatre experience. Titled The Case of the Clown in the Woods, this innovative new concept sees Play Dead London incorporate elements of the much-loved Choose Your Own Adventure format to create a uniquely compelling hybrid theatre experience. Part Knightmare, part Treasure Hunt, Play Dead London’s brilliant new Choose Your Own Deadventure premise takes the online, immersive format that they have become renowned for and adds a compelling, new real-life element to the production. A body has been found in the woods. A body dressed as a clown. Who would want him dead and why? It is time to call in Detective Slaughter and Constable Butcher of the RCI “Remote Control Investigations” Department. A new initiative to bring audience interactions to the front of the case. Every great investigator has their tech support back at the office. The guys in the chair. The boys in the back. Ethan Hunt has Luther and Benji. Jack Bauer has Chloe O’Brien. Even Annika Rice had a team in the studio. And we have you. It will be up to you to direct Constable Butcher around the crime scene. Tell them where to go, what to look at, who to talk to, and what to ask them. The audience will need to sift through the clues, to gather the evidence, identify the culprit, and solve the crime.

This unique production marks a return to productions that occupy a real-life space and aren’t simply restricted to a virtual environment. This is the first phase in Play Dead London’s plan to create a fully hybrid model that sees both cast and audience exist in both a virtual and physical setting. For ‘The Case of the Clown in the Woods’, half of the cast with be active in a real life, physical location and half of the cast will be active on Zoom.
