Outside the Box – North West

North West is a site-specific audio artwork weaving music, sound and the verbatim testimony of former staff and students of North Westminster Community School, which stood in the Paddington Basin for 25 years. Artists and former students of the school Anna Morrissey and Tristan Kajanus have come together in their first collaboration to create a piece to experience through your headphones as you walk the former site of the school hearing intimate stories, testimony and memories of some of the 40,000 comprehensive school students who passed through the school before it and the surrounding estates were finally demolished to make way for towers full of luxury flats. North West Online is an animated multilayered audiovisual promenade in its own right and an arresting alternative to the in-person experience created for D/deaf audiences and those not able to attend in person.
