This year Blondel are putting the shawms to one side for a moment while they venture into the wonderfully mellow world of the curtal (or dulcian) consort. These ancestors of the bassoon were invented in the 16th century and we’re using a combination of the alto, tenor and bass instruments, as well as recorders and bagpipes, to explore some beautiful late 16th and early 17th century repertoire including variations on top tunes of the period “Browning”, “Elselein”, “Le jeune fillette” and “La Gamba”.This performance takes place at St Andrew’s Church, Marks Tey CO6 1LW
