Solitary

Right now, there are between 60,000 and 80,000 people held in solitary confinement within United States prisons – many of whom have served months or even years in extreme isolation. Nearly 80% of these inmates will be released back into society, where they will be expected to face the challenges of reintegration and leave their punishment behind them. Drawing on extensive research, Solitary uses intense physical performance, music and sound to communicate the devastating psychosocial experience of solitary confinement, telling the story of one man’s descent into memory and madness – and what happens when the door opens.
