Club Cumming began in Alan’s Studio 54 dressing room after performances of Cabaret on Broadway in 2015, where pals like Sting, Gareth Pugh and Monica Lewinsky would come backstage to party with him into the wee hours. A red neon sign showed up on Cumming’s Instagram, and we wanted in on the fun, so we invited him to bring his legendary after-party to Edinburgh International Festival. His 2016 Club Cumming nights after the curtain came down on his Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs shows were a raucous, hedonistic extravaganza, where cocktails flowed, friends were made and dancers often ended up shaking their tail feathers up on the stage beside Alan as he DJ’d. He’ll be doing it all again this year for one night only, in an evening featuring live performances from Alan and his band, records you never thought you’d hear again and guest appearances ranging from the unpredictable to the unclassifiable. Expect drinks, music, great company, games and surprises. And drinks!
