Monsieur Cain, a wealthy Victorian aristocrat, is known for his dinner parties. So, when eight of his acquaintances receive invitations to one such party, who are they to deny a pleasant evening full of food, drink and entertainment – the newest and most popular entertainment being the ritual of a séance. Calling the dead to the land of the living is all the rage and is nothing more than a bit of fun.
