Young Vic and Park triumph at Stage Awards

Other winners included producer Sonia Friedman and Liverpool’s reopened Everyman theatre

The Stage newspaper has announced the winners of its annual awards, which saw the Young Vic named London Theatre of the Year and Sonia Friedman pick up Producer of the Year.

Elsewhere, the Liverpool Everyman was a double winner – for Theatre Building and School of the Year – following its recent reopening.

The fledgling Park Theatre won Fringe Theatre of the Year, while Shakespeare's Globe won the International Award for its tour of Hamlet, which aims to visit every country in the world.

Birmingham Repertory Theatre's head of wardrobe Sue Nightingale won the Unsung Hero award, for her "extensive career and commitment to theatre outside the limelight".
