The concert staging takes place this weekend!
An anniversary concert for Songs for a New World will take place this Sunday, and we had a look inside rehearsals!
It sees Jason Robert Brown return to London to conduct the piece in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
First performed in 1995, Songs for a New World marked Brown’s debut as a composer and lyricist and explores moments of decision and change through a song cycle performed by a range of characters. It was originally produced Off-Broadway at the WPA Theatre, before a UK premiere at the Bridewell Theatre in 2001. It was revived for two special concerts at The London Palladium in the autumn of 2020.
The concert will take place at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith on Sunday, 21 September 2025.
Cast-wise, it features four Broadway legends: Shoshana Bean, Tituss Burgess, Jordan Fisher and Joy Woods. We caught up with them in rehearsals:
You can listen to Woods perform “I’m Not Afraid of Anything” from the show here:
The anniversary concert is produced by Lambert Jackson and Positive Sum and will be staged for two performances at 3pm and 7.30pm.
