There’s Something About Mary is getting the stage treatment.

The 1988 movie, which was co-directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, starred Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz. It follows one of many men obsessed with surgeon Mary Jensen.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Bobby Farrelly said that the brothers are working to adapt the story into a Broadway musical, saying: “We just feel like we have a lot of ideas about songs and things.”

He confirmed that the filmmaking duo has been working on the stage adaptation for a while:  “Broadway musicals take a long time.” But there are hopes that it will debut “maybe by next year.”

According to this report from Variety, three-time Tony nominee, Titanique‘s Marla Mindelle, is writing the stage adaptation.

Further details are expected to follow in due course.
