Molly Lynch, who’s currently playing Maria in Curve, Leicester’s The Sound of Music, gave us a set tour!

With music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, the musical follows Maria, a novice nun sent to care for the von Trapp children. Famed numbers include “My Favourite Things”, “Do-Re-Mi” and “Edelweiss”.

Now directed by Nikolai Foster, the Made at Curve production marks the 60th anniversary of the 1965 film adaptation. Our critic called the production “charming and captivating” in the WhatsOnStage review.

The set, which features real running water and trees, is designed by Michael Taylor, who is also responsible for costumes. Joining him on the creative team are musical supervisor and orchestrations adapter George Dyer, choreographer Ebony Molina, lighting designer Mark Henderson, sound designer Nick Lodge, props supervisor Ryan O’Connor, associate director Ollie Khurshid, and casting director Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.

Footage of the show included in the video below is by Crosscut Media.

Lynch is spending her second consecutive Christmas at Curve alongside David Seadon-Young, who plays Captain Georg von Trapp. Last year, the duo played Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins in the theatre’s My Fair Lady.

The revival will run until 17 January 2026, with a range of accessible performances available, including British Sign Language interpreted, captioned, dementia-friendly, audio-described, and relaxed performances. The production will be accompanied by engagement activities, including an education pack and school workshops.
