The Mentalists to close early

Producers have announced that The Mentalists, currently playing at Wyndham's Theatre, will close earlier than planned.

Featuring The Office star Stephen Merchant alongside Steffan Rhodri, the production opened last month and was previously booking until 26 September. It will now play its final performance on 29 August.

The production received mixed reactions when it opened with Michael Coveney praising the "perfectly pitched production", whilst Michael Billington said "it all makes for a strange evening".

A statement released by the show's producers today blames a 'challenging post-summer period', adding: "We wish to thank the cast, creative team and crew for all of their dedication, humour and hard work in creating a production which we are immensely proud of."
