An official London cast recording of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical will be released next month.

The new album, set to include 26 tracks and bonus material, reflects “the updated orchestrations and arrangements first introduced on tour and Broadway but never previously recorded”, as well as “cut material restored for the London run, expanded vocal moments, and a larger ensemble”. It is produced by Michael Croiter, Rob Rokicki, and Ben McQuigg and distributed by Centre Stage Records.

The musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling novel first premiered off-Broadway in 2014 and has since toured the US, including a limited Broadway run in 2019. Its story follows Percy Jackson, a New York City teenager who discovers he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon.

The show’s UK premiere was staged at the Other Palace in London, and it is now on a UK tour, under a different creative team, with dates currently scheduled through to 21 March 2026.

The team for the London premiere included book scribe Joe Tracz (Be More Chill), composer and lyricist Rokicki (Monstersongs), and director-choreographer Lizzi Gee (Groundhog Day).

The London cast was led by Max Harwood as Percy Jackson, alongside Scott Folan as Grover and Jessica Lee as Annabeth, Paisley Billings as Sally Jackson, Greg Barnett as Mr Brunner/Poseidon/Hades, Joe Allen (Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) as Mr D/Gabe, Samantha Mbolekwa (Dear Evan Hansen) as Clarisse, and Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Luke/Ares.

The ensemble members were Philip Catchpole (The Book of Mormon), Morgan Gregory (Newsies), Charlotte O’Rourke (Cruel Intentions), and Alex Waxman, making her professional stage debut.

Set and costume design was by WhatsOnStage Award winner Ryan Dawson Laight (My Son’s A Queer [But What Can You Do?]), with lighting by Charlie Morgan Jones (Derren Brown – Showman), sound design by Dominic Bilkey (The Lehman Trilogy), and video design by Duncan McLean (Shrek The Musical). The musical director was McQuigg (Ride the Cyclone), the musical supervisor was Jeremy Wootton (Heathers) and orchestrations were by Wiley DeWeese (Girl from the North Country) and Rokicki.

Other key roles included illusions by Richard Pinner (Here You Come Again), fight direction by Lisa Connell (Heathers), and puppet direction by Laura Cubitt (A Monster Calls).

The associate set and costume designer was Christophe Eynde (Your Lie in April), assistant director Danielle Kassaraté (The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time) and assistant choreographer Libby Watts (Wicked).

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical London cast recording will be released digitally on 7 November 2025, with the CD version following on 5 December.
