Former RSC artistic director Michael Boyd will direct the production
The full cast for Michael Boyd's production of The Cherry Orchard, adapted from Chekhov by Rory Mullarkey, has been announced
Kirsty Bushell (Motherland) and Jude Owusu (A Tale of Two Cities) lead the ensemble as Ranyevskaya and Lopakhin in the production which is set in a decaying family house desperately seeking financial salvation.
The pair are joined by Simon Coates (1984), Togo Igawa (47 Ronin), Julius D’Silva (Strictly Ballroom), Éva Magyar (Tristan and Yseult), Jack Monaghan (The Graduate), Emma Naomi (The Crucible), Enyi Okoronkwo (Junkyard), Verity Blyth, Rosy McEwan, Hayden McLean, Joseph Hardy and Harry Humberstone.
The production is co-produced by Bristol Old Vic and Manchester Royal Exchange, and will run first at Bristol before transferring to Manchester. It will have design by Tom Piper.
Boyd, who is the former RSC artistic director, trained as a director in Moscow and studied Russian. This will be his first Chekhov play.
The Cherry Orchard will run at Bristol Old Vic from 1 March to 7 April before transferring to Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre, where it runs from 19 April to 19 May.
