Sheridan Smith joins Burt Bacharach at Menier press night

Legendary singer-songwriter Burt Bacharach made a surprise appearance at the opening of What's it all About? Bacharach Reimagined last night, accompanied by guests including Sheridan Smith, who recently confirmed she will star at the Menier in Funny GIrl later this year.

Talking on twitter, Smith said:

Other guests included Sanjeev Bhaskar and Nathan Amzi, who will also be appearing at the Southwark venue in the upcoming Dinner with Saddam. Following the show, Amzi tweeted:

In his review for WhatsOnStage, Michael Coveney said of the show: "It is supremely theatrical, musically enthralling and the best sort of tribute show to a legend in his own lifetime, the inimitable Burt Bacharach, master magician of Motown, lyrical pop and beautiful ballad."
