The six time Olivier nominated musical is rumoured to be hitting the West End in June
The next show for the Garrick Theatre has been subject to speculation recently and today the rumour mill has been whirring wildly, with Kander & Ebb's Scottsboro Boys hotly tipped to take up residency at the West End venue in June.
The show – which is nominated for six Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Musical for Kyle Scatliffe – received its UK premiere at the Young Vic in October 2013, directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Producers).
Scottsboro Boys tells the true story of nine young black men, aged between 12 and 19, who were falsely accused of rape by two white women while travelling on a train through Scottsboro, Alabama in the 1930s. Their subsequent trials and appeals, lasting seven years, deeply divided the nation.
Rumours suggest that confirmation of this transfer will not be made until after the results of the Oliviers are announced.
What do you think? Would you like to see Scottsboro Boys in the West End?
