New msuical Rock Follies will open in July, it has been revealed.
Penned by Chloë Moss with lyrics by Howard Schuman and music by Andy Mackay, the piece is based on the hit ’70s series of the same name (which had songs by Schuman and Mackay).
It now comes to the stage with Dominic Cooke (Good, Follies) at the helm, running in Chichester’s Minerva Theatre from 14 July to 26 August.
Following three women, Anna, Dee and Q, who form a rock band, the piece is set to star Carly Bawden (Carousel, Romantics Anonymous) as Anna, alongside Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins, Follies) as Q.
Joining them will be Samuel Barnett (The History Boys, Twelfth Night), Tamsin Carroll (Barnum, Hex) and Fred Haig (Tammy Faye, The Courier). Further company members are to be revealed.
The show has set design by Vicki Mortimer, costume design by Kinnetia Isidore, choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, musical supervision and arrangements by Nigel Lilley, musical direction by Toby Higgins, lighting design by Paule Constable, and casting by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG.
It is commissioned and developed by Fictionhouse, Longshot Films and Elpis Theatre Productions Ltd.
