Public – The Musical, first seen at the VAULT Festival in 2023 and later at the Edinburgh Fringe, will be staged at Leicester’s Curve.

The musical follows four strangers trapped inside a gender-neutral public toilet. It was written by Hannah Sands, Kyla Stroud and Natalie Stroud, with Sands directing, Kyla Stroud composing and Natalie Stroud choreographing. Olivia Zacharia is musical supervisor and orchestrator.

Kyla Stroud said: “From songs written in a bedroom during the pandemic, to debuting a bloomin‘ musical at Curve… I’m beyond incredibly proud of this little show and the journey it’s been on already. As a team, we’re so excited to bring our pop-rock celebration of compassion and understanding to the Leicester stage!’’

The piece bagged a very strong review from WhatsOnStage when it had its fringe premiere, with our critic saying: “In a time where there is a new renaissance for British musicals, it is reassuring to see a show with plenty of cracking melodies.”

Public – The Musical received the VAULT Festival Origins Award and the Charlie Hartill Award and was listed as Playbill’s Pick of the Fringe. Tickets go on sale in stages from 25 November, with general booking from 2 December.

It will run in the Studio Theatre from 30 May to 13 June 2026. The production is presented by Roast Productions in association with Curve and created by Stroud and Notes.

Casting will be announced later.
