Vertigo Theatre Productions bring original play to the King’s Arms and an earlier hit returns.
Writers and directors Craig Hepworth and Adele Stanhope bring their original play Porno Chic to the King’s Arms, Salford from 25 – 29 November.
The play tells the story of adult film actor Harry Reems (played by Richard Allen) who shot to fame thanks to his role in the ground breaking 70’s porn film Deep Throat.
Through Harry’s eyes we are taken through the filming, release and the political fallout caused by the movie’s release. Harry navigates his way through the high’s as his fame grew alongside his co star Linda Lovelace to his rock bottom lows facing charges and possible jail time thanks to a government hell bent on bringing him and the movie down.
Porno Chic promises to take you behind the curtain of Harry Reems' life and one of the most profitable movies of all time. Alongside Richard Allen the play features Hannah Ellis, Stuart Reeve, Ash Preston, Ciara Tansey, Andrew Marsden and Paul Worrall.
The production contains nudity, graphic language and scenes of a sexual nature so is not suitable for persons under 18.
Vertigo also revisit their play Watching Goldfish Suffocate that played recently at Taurus Bar. Written by David Degiorgio and Craig Hepworth and directed by Hepworth, the piece tells the true story of writer Dave (who also stars as himself) as he experiences the worst year of his life, due to mental illness.
Playing a private performance for 250 staff members from BUPA on 11 September at the Oasis Academy in Salford Quays, the show will now also play a performance at the new Great Northern Playhouse on 18 October (the week of Mental Health awareness week). The cast includes David Degiorgio, Richard Allen, David Edward Lock and Celine Constantinides.
