Noel Sullivan, Lauren Samuels and Daniel Fletcher climbing Kilimanjaro for charity

The ”Rock of Ages” cast members will tackle the highest mountain in Africa on 2 December

Perhaps better known for climbing musical scales, Noel Sullivan, Lauren Samuels and Daniel Fletcher are in preparations to ascend to a much loftier height.

The threesome, who have all performed in the musical Rock of Ages (Sullivan and Fletcher are currently part of the UK Tour cast), have formed team 'Rock Trek' to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on 2 December 2014.

The trek, which will see them climb 19,341 feet over the course of eight days, will raise money for two causes that are particularly close to Noel Sullivan's heart, The Lullaby Trust and Bliss.

Talking about the trek, Sullivan said: "I've always wanted to do something to honour the memory of my brother and sister who we lost when I was young. Dominic died from sudden infant death syndrome and Alicia suffered complications relating to her prematurity and died aged nine days old. It was a devastating blow to my young mother and speaking to her over the years I found that support and resources at that time were limited. Bliss and the Lullaby trust are the perfect match and will support families in similar circumstances through their tremendous work.''

Lauren Samuels added: "This will be the biggest challenge of my life! When I was younger my dad used to take my brother and I camping a lot and we would often do hikes and climbs for fun but I have never done anything this serious. I don't think I realise quite how difficult climbing Kilimanjaro will be…"
