The new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic will embark on a tour in February
Nichola McAuliffe will play Miss Havisham in a new national tour of Charles Dickens' classic Great Expectations.
The new stage adaptation by Ken Bentley will be directed by Sophie Boyce Couzens and will open at Malvern Theatres in February.
McAuliffe's stage credits include The Night of the Iguana in the West End, Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van and Kiss Me Kate with the RSC – for which she won the 1988 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She is perhaps best known her role in the ITV sitcom Surgical Spirit.
The cast also features Séan Aydon (Pip), Isla Carter (Estella), Edward Ferrow (Joe Gargery) and Richard Earl (Jaggers/Pumblechook).
The production will have designs by James Turner, lighting by Richard Williamson, sound by Max Pappenheim and music will be composed by Ollie King.
Great Expectations opens at Malvern Theatres on 8 February 2018 before touring to Guildford, Mold, Bury St Edmunds, Richmond, Southend, Eastbourne, Buxton, Keswick, Winchester, Coventry, Cheltenham, Portsmouth, Bromley, Crawley and Exeter.
