The ”Game of Thrones” star will play an actress who turns up unannounced for an audition
Casting has been announced for the West End premiere of David Ives' hit Broadway play Venus in Fur, which opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in October.
Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will feature alongside David Oakes in Ives' comedy about an actress who appears unannounced for an audition. Based on Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s 1870 novel, Venus in Fur premiered off-Broadway in 2010.
Directed by Patrick Marber, the production will have design by Rob Howell.
Best known for playing Margaery Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones, Dormer's other screen credits include The Tudors and The Hunger Games. She reunites with Marber, who wrote After Miss Julie (Young Vic) in which she played the title role. Her other stage credits include Sweet Nothings (Young Vic) and .45 (Hampstead Theatre).
Oakes' TV credits include Victoria, The Borgias and The Pillars of the Earth. He was last seen in the West End playing Kit Marlowe in Shakespeare
In Love at the Nöel Coward Theatre.
Venus in Fur runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 17 October to 9 December, with previews from 6 October.
