They’re part of the 2025 Grange Festival
West End and opera stars will feature in a series of concerts.
Queen at the Opera and Bernstein on Broadway form part of the 2025 Grange Festival, under chief executive Tyler Stoops.
Marking 50 years of A Night at the Opera, the Queen-based concert celebrates the connection between opera and Freddie Mercury. Following two sell-out performances on 5 and 8 June, an additional date has been added on 19 June. Set to appear are musical theatre’s Jon Boydon, Peter Eldridge, Jenna Lee-James and Rachael Wooding, alongside multi-skilled opera singers Jordan Pitts, Nikola Printz and Ann Toomey. It will be conducted by Edwin Outwater (5, 8 June) and Pete Harrison (19 June) and feature the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Meanwhile, Bernstein on Broadway will present selections from the great composer’s theatrical output, including West Side Story, Candide, On the Town, and Wonderful Town.
Appearing in that concert will be musical theatre stars Julian Ovenden, Elèna Gyasi, Gabriela García and Lewis Francis, with opera singers Claudia Boyle and Trystan Llŷr Griffiths. The concert features the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and The Grange Festival Chorus led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Karen Kamensek. Bernstein on Broadway plays on 26 and 29 June.
Also in the festival season are new productions of La Traviata, and a Baroque-meets-street-dance staging of Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes, as well as an English-performed Die Fledermaus with Andrew Hamilton and drag queen Myra Dubois.
Additional concerts include Meath Gala, a star-studded recital in aid of The Meath Epilepsy Charity, and Summertime Swing, a jazz evening of American Songbook classics from Fay Claassen and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
Finally, Chanel DaSilva and Sophie Laplane have choreographed a sold-out double bill from Ballet Black.
