The revival plays for five weeks in Glasgow

Marti Pellow will play Ebenezer Scrooge in a new production of Scrooge The Musical, running next Christmas in Glasgow.
The show, adapted by the late Leslie Bricusse from his own 1970 film score, features songs including “Thank You Very Much”, “Father Christmas” and “I Like Life”. It was first staged in Birmingham in 1992 with Anthony Newley in the title role and has since been revived at The London Palladium and internationally.
Pellow’s career spans chart-topping pop hits with Wet Wet Wet, solo albums and stage performances in Chicago, Evita, Chess, The Witches of Eastwick and Jekyll and Hyde. This production marks his return to musical theatre in his home city.
The show will run at Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo from 12 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. The production will be directed by Thom Southerland, whose credits include Titanic The Musical, Grand Hotel and Mack and Mabel.
Speaking about the role, Pellow said that playing Scrooge had long been a goal: “This musical is an opportunity to explore one of the greatest journeys in theatre – from bitterness to joy, from isolation to redemption. It’s a role that humbles, challenges, and ultimately uplifts everyone it touches.”
The show is produced by Danielle Tarento and Austin Shaw, with further casting to be announced.
