Mark Curry to join cast of Wicked

The ex-”Blue Peter” presenter will take on the role of The Wizard from 25 March

Ex-Blue Peter presenter Mark Curry

Mark Curry will take on the role of The Wizard in Wicked from 25 March, it has been announced.

The actor and presenter will replace Tom McGowan, whose final performance will be on 12 March. The interim dates the role will be played by Sean Kearns.

Curry was a host of children's TV series Blue Peter between 1986 and 1990. He hosted alongside Caron Keating and Yvette Fielding and has subsequently appeared onstage in And Then There Were None, Out of Order and as The Narrator in a UK tour of The Rocky Horror Show.

Wicked currently stars Emma Hatton as Elphaba, Savannah Stevenson as Glinda, Oliver Savile as Fiyero and Liza Sadovy as Madame Morrible.

Wicked is the ninth longest running show currently in the West End and has been seen by over seven million people.
