Hepburn oversaw the venue’s recent capital redevelopment project
Lyric Hammersmith executive director Jessica Hepburn is stepping down after nearly ten years, the venue has announced.
Hepburn, who is leaving to pursue a writing career, will take on "one final challenge" before leaving her post – swimming the Channel to raise funds for the Lyric's work with disadvantaged children and young people.
"I am very grateful to the Lyric’s Board for giving me the opportunity to run the theatre when I was relatively young and inexperienced," said Hepburn. "I hope that over the last decade I have returned their belief in me."
Among her achievements has been overseeing the Lyric's £20 million capital redevelopment project.
Lyric chair Kevin McGrath said: "Jessica has been an exceptional executive director of the Lyric and has been instrumental in building the theatre's artistic and financial success.
"She leaves a legacy in the capital redevelopment that has transformed Hammersmith and will be enjoyed by the West London community for decades. It is a remarkable achievement."
Recruitment for Hepburn's replacement, who will work alongside artistic director Sean Holmes, will begin in a few weeks.
