Marianne Elliott directs the revival at the National Theatre, which opens this evening

Take a first look at the major revival of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Christopher Hampton’s adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ novel is staged at the National Theatre for the first time.
The piece sees Marianne Elliott return to the National Theatre after nine years, as part of a jam-packed inaugural season from Indhu Rubasingham. You can read more about all of the shows included here.
The cast includes Monica Barbaro, Gabrielle Drake, Lesley Manville, and Aidan Turner. They are joined by Ishmail Aaron, Sharif Afifi, Curtis Angus, Charlotte Avery, Nandi Bhebhe, Lucia Chocarro, Liz Ewing, Ali Goldsmith, Darragh Hand, Georges Hann, Dianté Lodge, Katie Lusby, Amy Macken, Aisha Naamani, Bryony Pennington, Cat Simmons and Hannah van der Westhuysen.
Also on the creative team are set designer Rosanna Vize, costume designer Natalie Roar, choreographer Tom Jackson Greaves, composer Jasmin Kent Rodgman, lighting designer James Farncombe, sound designer Ian Dickson for Autograph, intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, fight director Sam Lyon-Behan, casting directors Alastair Coomer and Naomi Downham, voice and dialect coach Hazel Holder, associate director Mumba Dodwell, and associate wigs, hair and make-up designer Adele Brandman.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses will play in the Lyttelton theatre to 6 June 2026. It will also be broadcast in cinemas worldwide via National Theatre Live from 25 June 2026.
