Laura Pitt-Pulford will return to the Leicester Curve this winter to star as Maria in Paul Kerryson's revival of classic musical The Sound of Music.

Pitt-Pulford has previously appeared at the Curve in productions of Piaf and Hello, Dolly!.

Alongside her as Captain Von Trapp is EastEnders actor Michael French, whose West End credits include West Side Story and Les Miserables.

The cast also includes Emma Clifford (Elsa Schraeder), Emma Harrold (Liesl Von Trapp), Mark Inscoe (Max Dettweiler), Lucy Schaufer (Mother Abbess), Annie Wensak (Frau Schmidt), and Jack Wilcox (Rolf Gruber).

Further casting, including the children, will be announced shortly.

Outgoing artistic director Kerryson's production reunites the creative team behind the Curve's 2013 Christmas production of Chicago, with choreography by Drew McOnie and musical direction by Ben Atkinson.

The Sound of Music opens on 3 December 2014 (previews from 28 November) and will run at the Curve until 17 January 2015.
