Former Tory party chairman and millionaire author and sometime playwright Jeffrey Archer’s last play in the West End was The Accused, the critically panned courtroom drama in which he also starred in the run-up to his real-life Old Bailey trial (See News, 20 Dec 2000). Aptly, his follow-up may be a stage adaptation of his three-volume memoir of his time in incarceration for perjury and perverting the course of justice, A Prison Diary. The books are being brought to the stage by producer Marc Sinden, the son of actor Donald Sinden, close friend of Archer’s who visited him in prison.
