In pictures: JK Rowling and more arrive at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child gala performance

JK Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the creative team behind Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, spoke with fans and the press as they arrived at the Palace Theatre for the show's gala performance earlier today.

Other guests to walk the red carpet included producer Sonia Friedman, comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, and actors Andrew Scott and Lesley Manville.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child officially opened earlier this week to a string of four and five star reviews – including our own five star review.

Thorne's play is based on an original story from Rowling, director Tiffany and Thorne. The piece is presented in two parts and both parts are intended to be seen on the same day or consecutive evenings.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is booking at the Palace Theatre until 10 December 2017.
