Full casting for Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth at Chichester Festival Theatre has been announced.

Joining Tony Award-winner Marcia Gay Harden, who makes her UK theatre debut, and Olivier Award-nominee Brian J Smith will be Richard Cordery as ‘Boss’ Finley, Graham Butler (The Curious Incident…) and Emma Amos (Men Behaving Badly).

Sweet Bird of Youth is about a fading Hollywood legend whose comeback film is a disaster, so she travels around under a pseudonym finding drink and drugs on her way.

Harden is best known for her Oscar-winning performance in the 2000 film Pollock, and she won the Tony Award for playing Veronica in God of Carnage on Broadway.

The cast also includes Hester Arden, Matthew Barker, Victoria Bewick, Alex Bhat, Ray Emmet Brown, Ingrid Craigie, Joy Cruickshank, Tim Francis, Kurt Kansley, Rob Ostlere, Sam Phillips, Daniel Tuite and Ewart James Walters.

The play, directed by Jonathan Kent, opens on 9 June.

Sweet Bird of Youth runs at Chichester Festival Theatre from 9 to 24 June, with previews from 2 June.
