Jerry Herman's Tony-nominated musical The Grand Tour will receive its European premiere at the Finborough Theatre next year.

Running from 6 January to 21 February 2015 (previews from 1 January), the production comes from the WhatsOnStage Award-winning team behind the recently acclaimed revivals of Titanic, Parade, Mack & Mabel and Victor/Victoria, led by producer Danielle Tarento and director Thom Southerland.

Herman's 1979 musical is set in 1940 Paris, where a Polish Jewish intellectual teams up with an anti semitic Polish colonel to escape the approaching Nazis.

According to press material, "Featuring one of Jerry Herman’s most engrossing and heartfelt scores, The Grand Tour finds beauty, light and humour in one of history’s darkest hours."

With music and lyrics by Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly!, La Cage aux Folles), the show is based Franz Werfel's play Jacobowsky and The Colonel and features a book by Michael Stewart (Bye Bye Birdie) and Mark Bramble (Barnum, 42nd Street).

The Grand Tour runs as part of the Finborough's upcoming 20 Premieres season.
