Fleabag and Our Girl star Ben Aldridge has been cast in the world premiere of Titas Halder’s debut play, Run the Beast Down.

Aldridge, whose theatre credits include American Psycho (Almeida) and The Lyons (Menier), will appear alongside DJ Chris Bartholomew, who will provide a live soundtrack.

Run the Beast Down will premiere at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury – where it has been developed as part of their ROAR! Project for New Writing – from 24 to 28 January, before transferring to the Finborough Theatre for a limited run from 31 January to 25 February.

Directed by Hannah Price (Boa, Trafalgar Studios) and co-produced by the Marlowe Theatre and Libby Brodie Productions, Halder's play finds Charlie (Aldridge) in a 'neon-hazed' insomnia in which the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred.

As well as working as a DJ in London's top clubs including Egg, Koko and Pasha, Bartholomew's work for theatre includes Grounded (Park Theatre) and Voyager (New Diorama).

Run the Beast Down runs at the Marlowe Theatre from 24 to 28 January and the Finborough Theatre from 2 to 25 February, with previews from 31 January.
