Full casting has been announced for Equus by Peter Shaffer, directed by Lindsay Posner, which will run at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

The production is a co-production with Theatre Royal Bath and runs in London from 8 May to 27 June, before transferring to Theatre Royal Bath from 13 to 25 July.

Toby Stephens will play Dr Martin Dysart, joined by Amanda Abbington (Hesther Salomon), Bella Aubin (Jill Mason), Emma Cunniffe (Dora Strang), Paula James (Nurse), Colin Mace (Frank Strang), Ed Mitchell (Nugget/Young Horseman), David Rubin (Dalton) and Noah Valentine (Alan Strang), with Luke Hodkinson, Aristide Lyons, Zach Parkin, Tommi Sutton and Moses Ward.

Stephens will take on the role of psychiatrist Dysart, who is assigned to treat a 17-year-old boy (Alan Strang) responsible for blinding six horses and begins to question the nature of treatment and its consequences. The play premiered in 1973 and has since been revived in the UK and internationally.

The creative team includes set and costume designer Paul Farnsworth, lighting designer Paul Pyant, composer and sound designer Adam Cork and movement director James Cousins.
