Lloyd Newson will take time out from the company which will stop producing new work while he is away
Physical theatre company DV8 will stop producing new work while its artistic director takes a break from the organisation.
Lloyd Newson has lead the company for 30 years, but today announced that he will be taking time out from DV8 'to reflect and think about the future'.
In a statement on their website, DV8 writes: "After the success of JOHN, and as DV8 Physical Theatre celebrates its 30th anniversary, artistic director Lloyd Newson has decided to take time out from the company to reflect and think about the future. During this time, DV8 will put on hold the production of new work.
"So, after 30 years of ‘living and breathing’ DV8, Newson is taking a break; we hope he will return in the future to continue to produce groundbreaking work. Until such time the DV8 office will operate on a much smaller scale."
DV8 has been creating challenging work that sits between theatre and dance since 1986 when it was founded by Newson, Michelle Richecoeur and Nigel Charnock.
The company has toured to 86 cities in 34 countries worldwide and most recently toured JOHN which opened at the National Theatre in 2014.
The company encourages people to check their website for updates on Newson's plans.
