If you are a fan of the ITV show, then this is most certainly the tour for you. Dancing on Ice has once again taken to the arenas, bringing with it a host of new faces, and bucket loads of energy, enthusiasm and drama.
Performed in the vast space of the Manchester Arena, this is a show filled with pyrotechnics, star quality and moves like Jagger (on ice). Although the celebrity performers do repeat some of their televised routines, there is enough new material here to make it worth the ticket price alone.
The evening carries with it an air of fun, as the audience and the panel of judges are left to vote for who goes through to the second half. After a fierce skating ‘dance-off’, it is then left for two couples to take on the infamous “Bolero”, before the winner of the night’s trophy is announced.
Among some daring, funny and captivating performances from the likes of celebrities, including Jorgie Porter, Matthew Wolfenden and Chico, there are some wonderful group numbers by the professional dancers, and a well-received reception for none other than the fabulous Torvill and Dean.
But while the pair do still have that magic quality on the ice that made them sparkle at the 1984 Olympics, the same can unfortunately not be said of their presenting skills. Compering the whole event, the duo get off to a shaky start, but admittedly begin to ease as the night progresses.
With stunning lighting designs, beautiful costumes and all the same ‘buzz’ of the televised series, this is one hot production guaranteed to melt the ice. A must-see for any skating supporter or fan of the hot TV show.
