Pitlochry Festival Theatre has announced new plans for the UK premiere of the musical Ceilidh, which will be staged at Pitlochry Town Hall from 7 to 17 October.

The production forms part of Alan Cumming’s first season as artistic director during the theatre’s 75th anniversary year. It is written by Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie, who also work under the name Noisemaker, and is directed and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton. Pinkleton’s recent credits include Oh, Mary! and the new Broadway production of The Rocky Horror Show.

Ceilidh is set around a traditional Scottish social gathering, with a caller and folk band at the centre of the action. As the evening unfolds, the musical follows a family story focused on relationships, inheritance and the significance of the event itself. The production will feature a cast of emerging Scottish performers.

The musical is a Pitlochry Festival Theatre production presented by arrangement with Grove Entertainment, Barbara Whitman and Trafalgar Theatre Productions.

Tickets are currently on sale to members, with general sale opening at 10am on Monday 13 April. Tickets and further information are available via the Pitlochry Festival Theatre website or through the box office.
