Full casting has been announced for the West End transfer of the Almeida's Mary Stuart, which opens at the Duke of York's Theatre in January.

As previously announced, Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams will reprise the play's central roles Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart – which they alternate based on the flip of a coin for each performance.

Also returning to the production are Rudi Dharmalingam (Mortimer), David Jonsson (Davison), John Light (Leicester), Carmen Munroe (Kennedy), Eileen Nicholas (Melville) and Daniel Rabin (Kent).

They will be joined by new cast members Michael Byrne (Talbot), Christopher Colquhoun (Paulet), Calum Finlay (Aubespine) and Elliot Levey (Burleigh).

Friedrich Schiller's play is adapted and directed by Robert Icke (Hamlet, 1984) and transfers to the West End following a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at the Almeida last year, it will then tour to Theatre Royal Bath, Salford Lowry and Cambridge Arts Theatre.

Mary Stuart runs at the Duke of York's Theatre from 25 January to 31 March, with previews from 15 January.
