Maury Yeston’s musical opens at the Charing Cross Theatre in January
Casting has been announced for the European premiere of Maury Yeston, Thomas Meehan and Peter Stone's Death Takes a Holiday, which opens at the Charing Cross Theatre in January.
Les Miserables star Zoë Doano will be joined by Maxwell Caulfield (Guys & Dolls) and Chris Peluso (Miss Saigon).
Following his acclaimed productions of Titanic and Ragtime, Thom Southerland will direct, with choreography by Sam Spencer-Lane and musical direction by Dean Austin.
With a score by Yeston (Titanic), Death Takes A Holiday is based on the 1928 Italian play of the same name, which also inspired the movie Meet Joe Black, starring Brad Pitt.
Set in Northern Italy, just after World War One, Death disguises himself as a handsome young prince to try to understand why life is so precious and death so feared. It premiered Off-Broadway in 2011.
The cast also includes Kathryn Akin, Anthony Cable, Trudi Camilleri, Ken Christiansen, Scarlett Courtney, Sophie-May Feek, James Gant, Matthew McDonald, Gay Soper, Ashley Stillburn, Samuel Thomas and Helen Turner.
Death Takes a Holiday runs at the Charing Cross Theatre from 23 January to 4 March, with previews from 16 January.
