Casting has been revealed for The Blackprint Concert.
The new show describes itself as “a fearless declaration of Black artistry taking up space” and will take place this summer in London.
Taking part in the concert are Koko Alexandra, Lauren Azania, Tanasha Chege, Elan Ayana Davies, Cameron Benard Jones, Idriss Kargbo, Claudia Kariuki, Leah St Luce, Paige Miller, Georgina Onuorah, Jordan Shaw, and Jaz Terry.
Created and produced by Emmanuel Akwafo and Marcus Collick, the event will be hosted by Collick, with musical supervision and orchestrations by Sean Green. Phoenix Arts Club will be providing sound and lighting design.
All proceeds will fund scholarships, mentorships, and career development programmes for the next generation of Black artists.
In press material, a statement read: “The Blackprint Concert is a bold showcase of Black creative brilliance. It isn’t just a concert; it’s a call to action, a celebration, and a movement. Black excellence in theatre and music takes centre stage unapologetically and powerfully. You can expect powerhouse vocals, magnetic performances, and a soul-stirring reminder of the talent that too often goes unseen.”
The Blackprint Concert takes place on Sunday, 3 August at 1:30pm at Phoenix Arts Club.
