It has been announced that veteran performer Bruce Forsyth is to host and interview the American legend Liza Minnelli in An Intimate Evening with Liza Minnelli.

The show is due to open at the London Palladium 20 September, where the Cabaret star will be inducted into the venue's hall of fame.

The show will see Minnelli interviewed for 90 minutes by Forsyth about her life and career, encompassing her Hollywood childhood as the daughter of Judy Garland through her own stage and screen successes.

Currently in her sixth decade of performing, Liza Minnelli has won four Tony Awards, an Oscar, a Grammy, two Golden Globe Awards, an Emmy and a BAFTA.

Forsyth said of the evening: "I am absolutely delighted to be spending an evening in the company of one of the truly great entertainers of our age, someone I am also lucky to know as a dear friend. I am looking forward to guiding her on a trip down memory lane on the stage of the greatest theatre in the world – The London Palladium."

Minnelli added: "I’m always so excited to return to Britain, which I’ve considered to be a second home for many years. I have so many friends there and I look forward to being back again for these special intimate evenings."

Minnelli will subsequently visit Sheffield City Hall on 22 September and the Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow on 24 September.
