Producers have announced that Christopher Wheeldon’s multi award-winning musical An American in Paris will transfer from Broadway to the Dominion Theatre next year.

Robert Fairchild (New York City Ballet) and Leanne Cope (British Royal Ballet) will play Jerry Mulligan and Lise Dassin – roles they originated on Broadway – alongside a cast of over 50 actors, dancers and musicians.

Based on the Academy Award-winning film starring Gene Kelly, the musical features a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, including the hit songs "I Got Rhythm", "‘S Wonderful" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me".

The musical is set in Paris and tells the story of Jerry Mulligan, an American GI trying to make it as a painter in post-war Paris.

Further West End casting to be announced.

An American in Paris will open at the Dominion Theatre on 21 March 2017.
