Cast and dates announced for UK tour of War Horse

Casting has been announced for the UK tour of the National Theatre's War Horse, which opens in Canterbury in September.

Thomas Dennis, currently playing Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will play the central role of Albert Narracott alongside Curious castmate Jo Castleton as mother Rose Narracott. Bob Fox, returns as Song Man.

The full company includes Marcus Adolphy, Adam Barlow, Peter Becker, Joelle Brabban, Lucas Button, Jasper William Cartwright, Chris Charles, Jonathan Charles, Sebastian Charles, Anna Chessher, Nicky Cross, Max Gallagher, Chris Garner, Andrew Hodges, Lewis Howard, William Ilkley, Ben Ingles, Billy Irving, Elan James, Kiran Landa, Gwilym Lloyd, Jack Lord, Stephen Love, Toyin Omari-Kinch, Samuel Parker, Tom Quinn, Domonic Ramsden, Arinder Sadhra, Tom Stacy, Elizabeth Stretton and Simon Victor.

Nick Stafford's adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel tells the story of a boy and his horse set against the backdrop of the First World War. It premiered at the National Theatre in 2007 and transferred to the New London Theatre in 2009 where it ran for seven years before closing in March last year.

The tour will visit Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, Bristol Hippodrome (18 October to 11 November), Empire Theatre, Liverpool (15 November to 2 December), New Theatre, Oxford (13 December to 6 January), Brighton Centre (25 January to 10 February), Bradford Alhambra Theatre (14 February to 10 March), Nottingham Royal Concert Hall (14 March to 7 April), Edinburgh Festival Theatre (18 April to 12 May), Mayflower Theatre, Southampton (16 May to 9 June), The Lowry, Salford (13 to 30 June), Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff (4 to 28 July), New Victoria Theatre, Woking (1 to 18 August), Plymouth Theatre Royal (29 August to 15 September), Milton Keynes Theatre (19 September to 6 October) and Glasgow SEC (15 January to 2 February 2019).

War Horse opens at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on 15 September before continuing on tour.
