Ray Fearon to play Macbeth in Globe's Wonder Season

The productions are part of Emma Rices’ inaugural season as artistic director at the Globe

After previously announcing the 2016 Wonder Season, the Globe have revealed casting for two productions in Emma Rice's inaugural season as artistic director.

The summer season will open with A Midsummer Night's Dream which will run from 30 April to 11 September. Taking the role of Titania will be performance artist Meow Meow (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Feline Intimate) whilst Ewan Wardrop (Rebecca, Swan Lake) will play Bottom and Katy Owen (946 The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips) will play Puck.

Other cast members includes Ankur Bahl, Ncuti Gatwa, Nandi Bhebhe, Edmund Derrington, Anjana Vasan and Lucy Thackeray with Tanika Gupta (Anita and Me, The Waiting Room) as dramaturg for the production.

From 18 June, Tara Fitzgerald and Ray Fearon will star in Iqbal Khan‘s Macbeth. Fitzgerald, whose acting credits include Gaslight (Northampton Royal), The Winter’s Tale (RSC) and Broken Glass (Vaudeville) will play Lady Macbeth, whilst Fearon, whose credits include Hecuba (RSC), World Music (Donmar Warehouse) and Coronation Street will take the titular role.
