Birmingham Stage Company hopes to take a gamble in the West End in the new year. Its production of Paul Lucas' The Dice House, inspired by Luke Rhinehart's cult 1970s novel The Dice Man, is expected to transfer in February. In Lucas' play, two psychiatrists test the theory of "dice-living", ie making choices based on the whim of the roll of the dice. The Dice House premiered at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre in 2001 and was revived last year at London's fringe Old Red Lion theatre and at the Edinburgh Fringe.
