Skylight recoups after just five weeks at Wyndham's

The sold-out production stars Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan

Stephen Daldry's revival of David Hare's Skylight at Wyndham's Theatre has recouped its costs after just five weeks.

The production, which stars Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan, continues to play to sell-out houses. There will be an NT Live screening on Thursday (17 July 2014).

The play has a limited run at Wyndham's to 23 August. It first ran at the National Theatre in 1995 before being revived in 1997 at the Vaudeville Theatre, a production that also starred Nighy.

It tells the story of a schoolteacher, Kyra Hollis (played by Mulligan), who one night receives an unexpected visit from her former lover Tom (played by Nighy) and his son Edward (played by Matthew Beard).

Skylight, which opened at Wyndham's on 18 June 2014 (previews from 6 June), is produced in the West End by Robert Fox Limited and Scott Rudin.
