Mackintosh Makes Acting Debut with Lucas & Boe???

This is one of the funniest things we’ve seen on YouTube this year: Matt Lucas’ “exclusive” clip of him signing his contract with Cameron Mackintosh to appear as Thenardier Les Miserables in the West End – and angling for a role in the forthcoming feature film that Mackintosh is producing with Working Title. Hats off to Mackintosh for his very convincing acting (perhaps he should be treading the boards in one of his own shows?) and a stunned-looking Alfie Boe (who’ll be reprising his O2 role as Jean Valjean) getting in on the joke with suggestions of myriad stars who’d be better than Lucas on screen – Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Nathan Lane or Geoffrey Rush as Thenardier, anyone?
