Actress and founder of the Party Cakes shop in Chelsea Jane Asher looks set to combine both her passions, bringing famous food writer Elizabeth David to the stage in a play currently being written by Hugh Whitemore. The Daily Mail reports that Asher – who was appeared in Peter Hall‘s 2009 revival of Alan Ayckbourn‘s Bedroom Farce at the Rose Theatre Kingston and in the theatre’s panto later that year – hopes begin performances by the end of the autumn, having approached a director and producing partners. Although expecting a one-woman show, Asher told the Mail Whitemore has written a two-act drama for four or five actors and a functioning kitchen titled Some Rather Special Dinner Parties.
