Dirty Dancing announces details of 2014 tour

Date: 8 February 2013

Producers of screen-to-stage musical Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage have announced that a new UK tour will launch at the Bristol Hippodrome in March 2014, before visiting Sheffield, Newcastle, Southampton, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Milton Keynes and Oxford.

The show broke box office records when it opened at the West End's Aldwych Theatre in 2006, with advanced ticket sales of over £15 million. It closed at the Aldwych on 9 July 2011, commencing its ongoing national tour in September that year.

Producer Karl Sydow said: “We are so pleased to be starting this new stage in Dirty Dancing’s UK journey. The unique combination of Eleanor Bergstein’s iconic story and the breathtaking dancing for which the show is renowned has proven so popular around the country that we are really looking forward to allowing new audiences to experience this timeless classic live on stage.”

Tickets for the new tour go on sale to the public on Monday 11 February. Further dates will be announced in September.
